The Dirty Wellies is a fast-rising traditional Irish band based in the Chicago area. The band formed in 2013 when County Mayo natives Regina Garrity, Margaret Murphy O'Callaghan, and Bernadette Murphy, joined with a guitarist friend to hold open sessions at a popular pub in the Chicago suburb of Brookfield. Over Bernadette left the country for a year and Jim Aman joined as the whistler. Bernadette returned, expanding the band, which had been joined by Vincent O'Callaghan and, later, Frank Gleeson.

The band's focus is traditional Irish and Scottish music. Modern tunes and twists have come into the repertoire along the way, but the heart and soul of the band remains trad. Their style and love of traditional tunes and songs has carried the band to festivals, concerts, and a variety of private and public performances.

Listen to a few tracks plus our demo CD of tracks recorded live at the
2016 Milwaukee Highland Games on our Soundcloud page.

The CD tracks contain audience interaction, because we are very much an audience-involved band.

β€œThe Dirty Wellies is a powerhouse group of six traditional Irish musicians who fill any size room with rich performances, warm stage presence and large catalog of Irish tunes. Fiddle, bodhran, whistle, banjo, mandolin and vocals and accordion; the Wellies have it all.”

"The Dirty Nellies played for members and friends of the The Irish American Society of County Will (IASCW) at a 2016 event and at our annual Celtic Fest. This band is a sure crowd pleaser! Our crowd includes all ages so the musical likes vary greatly. This Band was able to please all and they will certainly be asked to play for us again!"
